MUMBAI: This weekend, the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan, reclaimed the top spot at the North American box office with $43.50 million collections. The newly released action flick – Salt – starring Angelina Jolie was at the second spot with collections of $36.50 million over the weekend. Inception has collected $143.6 million at the box office in 10 days and is currently running across 3,792 locations.
On the other hand, at the third spot stood Universal’s Despicable Me with revenues of $24.12 million over the weekend. The movie has so far earned $161.72 million at the box office.
The fourth spot was claimed by Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with collections of $9.68 million in the weekend. Total collections of the movie stood at $42.64 million. Disney’s Toy Story 3 is still going strong at the theaters and gathered revenues of $9.03 million in the weekend, whereas its cumulative collections are $379.5 million.
Sony Pictures’ Grown Ups and Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse were at the fifth and sixth spot respectively with revenues of $7.6 million and $7.03 million. While Grown Ups has seen total box collections of $142.41 million so far, Eclipse has collected $279.67 million at the box office.
Paramount’s The Last Airbender (weekend $4.17 million; total $123.26 million), 20th Century Fox’s Ramona And Beezus (weekend $3 million) and Predators (weekend $2.85 million; total $46.56 million) stood at the eight, ninth and tenth spot respectively at the box office.
