Maggie Heim upped to SVP Litigation for Sony Pictures Entertainment

MUMBAI: Maggie Heim has been promoted to senior vice president Litigation for Sony Pictures Entertainment. She reports to  Sony Pictures Entertainment executive vice president Litigation Leonard Venger.

Heim is responsible for litigation related to all aspects of the studio’s business spanning motion pictures, television, digital and home entertainment production and distribution. Although she specializes in intellectual property litigation, Heim’s legal counsel for the studio includes copyright and technology issues, as well as international and general business litigation. A 25-year veteran in intellectual property litigation, Heim has worked on cutting edge cases involving Internet, technology and content protection.

Heim joined Sony Pictures in 1993 after working independently at her own law firm. She has been a trustee of the Los Angeles Copyright Society, a board member of the LACBA intellectual property and entertainment law section and vice chair of the ABA TIPS Intellectual Property Law Committee. In the past, Heim has been published in several law reviews and psychology journals. Heim received her Bachelor’s degree from Smith College and her PhD and JD degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles.
