The new Miss Universe collapsed during a post-pageant news conference in Los Angeles last night, and had to be rushed offstage just 40 minutes after landing the prize. Pageant officials immediately told attending journalists that Miss Puerto Rico Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza was recovering and had fainted.
Organiser Lark Anton said, “She’s OK. She’s fine. She got dizzy. It’s very hot up here, Her dress is tight – as you could see it was beaded and heavy. She passed out.” The 18-year-old was able to attend the pageant’s Coronation Ball which included Donald Trump amongst its guests.
