MUMBAI: Move Networks, a provider of online television services, announced at the MIX08 Conference plans to partner closely with Microsoft to enable Move Networks’ high quality video streaming technology within Microsoft Silverlight.

Microsoft Silverlight, a cross-browser, multiplatform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web, will soon support Move Networks’ video streaming technology that allows for fast start times, smooth playback with no buffering, and high quality video resolution. The Move Media Player is currently used to deliver HD video content online by leading media companies such as ABC, the CW, Discovery Communications, ESPN, Fox, Warner Brothers, and many others.

As online video viewing continues to grow exponentially, Move Networks’ technology combined with Microsoft Silverlight’s open, flexible platform will give media companies and developers the ability to quickly deploy unique online television offerings. Within one environment, developers will be able to seamlessly provide unique branding and navigational elements within, around and on top of the highest quality online video on the Internet.

"Silverlight is focused on delivering the most flexible cross-platform development environment for creating rich applications online," said Microsoft Corp general manager in the developer division John Case. "The era of static web pages is well behind us. Media companies are intent on delivering video-rich, interactive experiences for users. Working together enables us to offer those media companies Move Networks’ video streaming technology within the flexible Silverlight development platform."
"Across the board, media companies are looking for smart, seamless ways to maximize the advertising opportunities of their online television content," said Move Networks CEO John Edwards. "Move has specialized in driving higher viewership through better quality of experience. By partnering with Microsoft, we’re offering the most flexible, creative platform for creating the best video and navigation experience for online television."

Utilizing Move Networks’ video streaming within Silverlight’s development platform will allow media companies and advertising agencies to unleash their creativity in developing new, interactive advertising elements for online video.

Web users will also benefit from the single, open development environment that will come from Move Networks’ relationship with Microsoft. When users view online video, they’re looking for a high quality experience. The combined Silverlight and Move Networks solution will enable media companies to more easily develop the best viewer experience with both rich navigation and high quality video.
