Owen Wilson backs out of DreamWorks movie

MUMBAI: Hollywood actor Owen Wilson has backed out of his upcoming movie – Tropic Thunder – with Ben Stiller. The actor is reportedly recovering from a recent suicide attempt.

Tropic Thunder is an upcoming comedy film from DreamWorks for which Wilson was slated to shoot soon. The film also stars Jack Black, Robert Downey, Jr., and Nick Nolte.

According to a Variety report, Wilson‘s role would require a week’s worth of filming whereas Stiller, who is producing it under his banner Red Hour Films, began shooting in Hawaii six weeks ago.

The report states both Wilson and Stiller agreed on the decision, and it is not yet known whether the former will be replaced or his role would be dropped from the script.

Wilson is currently in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he was admitted on 26 August after his reported suicide attempt. He had slashed his wrists, and reportedly took an overdose of pills.

The movie revolves around a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie who are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.
