Slumdog Millionaire nominated for Best Picture by Producers Guild of America

MUMBAI: Danny Boyle’s hit film Slumdog Millionaire which won the Best Cinematography award from the National Society of Film Critics as well as nominations for Best Film and Best Director from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, has done it again! The movie has earned the Best Picture nomination from the Producers Guild of America (PGA) putting the acclaimed film on track to be a major contender at next month’s Academy Awards.

The PGA nomination is particularly important because generally most of the five nominated films go on to earn an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Last year, four of the five PGA nominees also scored Academy Award nods for Best Picture. The winners will be announced on 24 January by the PGA.
