Mumbai: TeleToon Canada Inc. and Marvel Animation have inked a multi-year output deal that sees TeleToon become the home of Marvel Animation in Canada.
Beginning in spring 2009, a broad spectrum of Marvel animated series will air on TeleToon networks in both English and French. The agreement sees Marvel deliver a minimum of 182 episodes of first-run animation for broadcast and includes rights for additional platforms including broadband, video-on-demand, mobile and other online opportunities.
"Super heroes have always been key demo winners on TeleToon. This partnership with Marvel is central to building our dominance with boys and attracting more young adults who have grown up with the Marvel Universe," said TeleToon Canada Inc. president Len Cochrane
"With this announcement, Marvel Animation and TeleToon are now the clear home for Super Heroes across all of Canada for many years to come. This commitment by TeleToon and Marvel will allow all of our partners in licensing and at retail to lock in long range planning strategies further strengthening the Marvel brand as we continue building awareness across all media platforms," said Marvel Animation president Eric Rollman.
First-run shows based on Marvel characters like Iron Man, The Avengers and Wolverine will air on TeleToon in the prime Sunday morning action block and be stripped after school in the weekday schedule. Plus, fanboys, adults and teens will see Marvel stunts and specials in the night-time TeleToon Detour block. The agreement builds on a solid relationship between the two companies that already sees TeleToon and TeleToon Retro air Marvel shows such as the classic Spider-Man, the new series The Spectacular Spider-Man, and films such as The Ultimate Avengers, The Invincible Iron Man, Captain America and X-Men.
