In attendance will be the film’s director and Big Screen production president Stephen Eckelberry, and The Mirror star Kelly LeBrock.
Established 27 years ago by local critics and fans, and now sponsored by the Portuguese government, the Fantasporto festival has blossomed into the premier festival for Fantasy films, screening films from around the globe.
Previous filmmakers and stars who have attended the festival include Maggie Gyllenhaal, Paul Anderson, David Fincher, Jeremy Irons, the Wachowski Brothers, Harvey Keitel, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Ben Kingsley, David Cronenberg, Rosanna Arquette, Brian de Palma, Willem Dafoe, Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Jennifer Tilly, David Lynch, Pedro Almodovar, Jeff Daniels, Gabriel Byrne, Ridley Scott, Luc Besson, Joel and Ethan Coen, Sam Raimi and Roberto Rodriguez.
“As a filmmaker I am proud to be part of such a distinguished festival, knowing how tough the competition can be to be accepted,” said Stephen Eckelberry. “As a member of the Big Screen team our presence at the Fantasporto Festival means that The Mirror will be exposed to film buyers from around the world, which means increased revenue for our company.”
The Mirror, which had its US festival premiere at the Hollywood Film Festival, stars Kelly LeBrock (Weird Science), Thaao Penghlis (Days of Our Lives, Mission: Impossible) and Erin Cahill (Without a Trace), who has just been cast in a new Sam Raimi film set to begin shooting next month.
The Mirror screens at the festival on 8 March.
