Warner/Chappell Music in publishing agreement with Steven Sater

Mumbai: Warner/Chappell Music has announced a worldwide publishing agreement with Grammy and Tony award-winning songwriter Steven Sater. The music label will administer Sater’s catalogue of work including music from his Broadway musical debut Spring Awakening, songs written for Phantom Moon, compositions from plays and his future compositions.

In making the announcement, Warner/Chappell Music executive vice president and head of creative Glen Brunman said, "Steven is a tremendously talented and prolific songwriter with an ability and unique style that transcends any one medium. His bold and provocative work has captivated audiences in theatre, film and music and we look forward to working with him and branching out into many other platforms."

Sater added, "I’m genuinely thrilled to join the Warner/Chappell family. I am excited to meet and work with their remarkable network of contemporary writers and honoured to be a part of their deep catalogue of theatre and standards. I was looking for a creative partner in a publisher and I have certainly found it. Thanks to their introduction, I am already writing songs with three of my all-time heroes — Burt Bacharach, Johnny Mandel and former System of a Down front man, Serj Tankian."

Sater is currently working on a number of plays and musicals including the New York premiere of Umbrage, Nero, The Nightingale, as well as a musical adaptation of Prometheus Bound with Tankian. He is also working on an original movie musical with Oscar-nominated producer Laurence Mark and a feature film with writer/director Jessie Nelson.
