Wendy Noss to lead Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association

Mumbai: The Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association (CMPDA), an affiliate of the Motion Picture Association of America, (MPAA), announced that Wendy Noss has been named Executive Director. Noss, who previously served as General Counsel of the CMPDA, has been serving as Acting Executive Director of the Toronto-based organization since January.

She assumes her new title immediately and will report to CMPDA Board Chairman Bob Pisano, who also serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of the MPAA.

"Wendy is one of the most talented executives in our industry and a tremendous advocate for our member companies’ issues," said Pisano. "As General Counsel, and most recently as Acting Executive Director, she has successfully tackled some of the most important legal and legislative issues confronting the motion picture industry in Canada. She will be an effective and persuasive representative for the film industry."

As Executive Director, Noss is responsible for overseeing the CMPDA member companies’ legal, legislative and anti-piracy strategies across Canada and for promoting their commercial interests in the country. The CMPDA represents Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal and Warner Bros.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity and responsibility to continue representing the interests of the CMPDA member companies," said Noss. "We face many challenges but most importantly, we have tremendous opportunities to seize upon to ensure the continued success and growth for our industry in Canada."
