This follows the UK television premiere of the 2 x 90 minute costume-drama during the August bank holiday weekend. Wuthering Heights was UK television’s highest rating show on 30 August during the 9 pm slot. Part two continued to perform for ITV1, peaking with more than 4.4 million viewers on Monday 31 August. Across both episodes, the drama averaged a 19 per cent share of all ABC1 Adults and won a share of 23 per cent of all ABC1 female viewers.

ITV global TV distribution director Tobi de Graaff said, "Wuthering Heights is a superb piece of high-quality drama. The lavish costumes, epic landscapes and gripping characters brilliantly bring this compelling portrayal of one of literature’s most famous love stories to life in spectacular style. Today’s sales news sits proudly alongside our first Mammoth Screen drama, Lost in Austen, which is watched in more than 120 countries worldwide."

Filmed on location in Yorkshire, England, Wuthering Heights is the lavish adaptation of Emily Bronte’s haunting and passionate novel starring Tom Hardy as the dark and brooding Heathcliff, alongside Charlotte Riley as Cathy, together with Sarah Lancashire as Nellie Dean and Andrew Lincoln as Edgar, Cathy’s forlorn husband.

Wuthering Heights is produced by Mammoth Screen, the UK independent studio backed by ITV Global Entertainment, and WGBH Boston and supported by the Screen Yorkshire production fund.

ITV DVD, the UK label from ITV Global Entertainment Ltd, will launch Wuthering Heights on Blu-ray and DVD on 7 September 2009.
