MUMBAI: BIG 92.7 FM has announced a slew of programming and on-ground initiatives for its listeners in Mumbai for the forthcoming monsoon.
The station has entered into an exclusive arrangement with Limtex, a weather forecasting organisation, for regular weather forecasts that the station will pass on to its listeners. Through this exclusive arrangement, BIG hopes to provide its listeners adequate warning to get prepared for the foreseeable monsoon-related problems in the city.
The station has also tied up with the BEST and Mumbai Suburban Traffic for regular updates on bus services and conditions of roads in each locality, so that the information can be passed on to Mumbaikars.
Says BIG’s western regional head Manav Dhanda, “Radio is the most interactive and local medium, and we at BIG 92.7 FM believe in impacting our listeners’ lives positively. While all of us at BIG 92.7 FM hope for a safer monsoon, without any repeats of 26/7, it is also a fact that Mumbai does have some really bad days thrown into its four months of rains, and life can come to a crippled halt, as we have seen in the past. Our association with Limtex, BEST, Mumbai Suburban Traffic, Reliance Web World and Monginis is one of the initiatives, and I am sure that, BIG 92.7 FM will indeed have an opportunity to be a dependable friend and guide to millions of Mumbaikars during the monsoon this year.”
BIG 92.7 FM has also tied up with all branches of Reliance Web World and over 150 outlets of Monginis across Mumbai to help stranded Mumbaikars with support and relief.
The Reliance Web World outlets will provide live updates to stranded Mumbaikars from railway stations and high traffic locations near by, along with a free wireless PCO for people to make calls to keep their families informed of their safety by arrangement with Reliance Communications. Facilities for mobile charging units along with free tea and coffee and thick plastic bags to protect documents and handbags will be provided, along with efforts to provide any other necessary assistance.
BIG 92.7 FM has also identified and set up Monsoon Wardens, which comprise citizens of Mumbai living in buildings located in and overlooking areas that are prone to water logging across the city. These monsoon wardens comprising 20 households will be spread across areas like Kurla, Sion, Bandra, Chembur, Sewree, Ghatkopar, Khar, Mahim, Santacruz, Andheri, Malad, Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivili, Dadar, Currey Road and other areas. Their contribution to BIG 92.7 FM’s huge Monsoon Magic will be to provide updates to BIG 92.7 FM RJs, who will pass on the latest position details to listeners.
