Mumbai: T-Series has released the music of Mirchi Movies’ forthcoming film Hari Puttar – A Comedy of Terrors. The movie is slated to hit screens on 19 September.
Mirchi Movies is a part of the Times of India (TOI) Group. Incidentally, TOI has two music labels under its umbrella – Times Music and the recently launched Junglee label. Despite Junglee being aggressive on film music acquisition in recent times, the music rights of Hari Puttar were sold to T-Series.
Times Music COO Adarsh Gupta said, "Each division under the TOI umbrella operates individually. It was purely a commercial decision on behalf of Mirchi Movies to sell the music rights of Hari Puttar to T-Series."
Earlier this year, Junglee had acquired the rights of Singh Is Kinng for Rs 100 million (Rs 10 crores) from Studio 18, which is the highest ever so far for any film’s music rights. Recently, UTV Motion Pictures, which had launched its music label – UTV Music – earlier this year, also sold the music rights of its upcoming films to T-Series.
Mirchi Movies COO Munish Purii said, "The music of the film is great and Aadesh has done a brilliant job. Hari Puttar has been developed keeping in mind the sensibilities of an Indian family."
The music of Hari Puttar is by Aadesh Shrivastav, lyrics by Sameer, singers Sukhwinder Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Aadesh Shrivastav, Shaan and Neha Bhasin. The film has six songs and one remix by DJ Aqueel.
The film stars Jackie Shroff, Sarika, Zain Khan, Sweeny Khara, Zakir Khan, Lilette Dubey, Saurabh Shukla and Vijay Raaz.
