Pritam is certainly the musician of the year. Barring the number of unoriginal compositions he has dished out, the maximum hits of 2007 are also attributed to him. Though Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal holds limited appeal, the tracks do have the spark.
‘Billo Rani’ is undoubtedly the cherry on this ice-cake. It’s composed well, sung in an unlikely manner and the lyrics too lend an unusual feel. After a gap, we get to hear Anand Raaj Anand’s conventional voice. And Richa Sharma sounds simply amazing. Both create this ‘li’l village’ ambience which is a rare amalgamation. Lyricist Javed Akhtar seems to very much smitten by Bipasha’s hit nautanki number in Omkara’s ‘Beedi Jaleyle’….no wonder he went ahead with ‘Billo Rani’.
‘Ishq Ka Kalma’ has the grooving effect to it. Neeraj Shridhar has done complete justice to the melodious music. But as it’s customary, this ends up sounding like Bhool Bhulaiyan’s ‘Hare Ram, Hare Ram’.
‘Hey Dude’ is filled with vengeance. Though it doesn’t have anything unique to offer, apart from the two contemporary terms – hey dude! It can surely be overlooked reckoning the range the album offers.
A sports based film, Goal had to have a motivational song – ‘Halla Bol’ rendered by Dillar Mehndi. Again, it’s not different. However, the efforts gone into making the track stand out is quite evident. The music gets full marks for its varied range, but overall it can be slotted parallel to a patriotic song.
‘Tara Ru’ sung by Javed Ali is one of those emotional, soothing tracks. It is quite understood that this track comes in play when the team is going through a lull.
