Radio City launches Bollywood music quiz contest

Mumbai: Mumbai’s Radio City 91.1 FM, is launching Bollywood music-based quiz contest, titled Music Ka PH.D. Beginning 8 September on Whatte Fun Mornings (7 – 11AM), this month-long contest will have Mumbai Radio City 91.1FM’s RJ Harssh and Archana testing the music gyaan of Mumbai’s Radio Citizens. Honoring the most deserving musical guru with a musical PhD, the FM station has in store an International Holiday along with a whopping cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the Winner along with a holiday to an exotic Indian destination for the Runner-Up.

To participate, listeners need to SMS PHD NAME to 57007 or register online on www.planetradiocity.com. Following the registration, 16 lucky listeners get to participate in the Qualifying Round from 8-18 September, by responding to one simple music based question posed by the station. The RJs will shortlist two very consistent players and throw 5 questions within the time span of 40 seconds! The contestant with the most number of correct answers will be declared the semi-finalist for the day! Rewarding the listener’s musical knowledge, the contest offers Rs.1000 in cash for every question which gets passed onto those listening in.

From 22-25 Sept, these eight semi-finalists will compete with one another to make it into the final four as the questions get progressively complex. Spicing the race even further, the contest integrates a wide array of Bollywood themes. These semi-finalists get to address questions based on popular Bollywood duos, era based questions, questions based on item numbers, sequels and remakes, remixes, debut films among several other themes. The Grande Finale on 1 October will witness the top two contenders fight it out to win Radio City 91.1FM’s Music Ka PH.D by responding to some of the toughest music-based trivia questions. The winner of Radio City 91.1FM’s ‘Music Ka PH.D’ stands to bag an International Holiday along with a whopping cash prize of Rs.1 lakh along with a holiday to an exotic Indian destination for the Runner-Up.
