Rahman launches anthem for Taj Mahal

MUMBAI: Music maestro A R Rahman has composed a soulful anthem to kick off the India Unites campaign to get the Taj Mahal included in the new seven wonders of the world.

Rahman himself has composed the music, penned the lyrics together with Raqeeb, and has also rendered the song.

Spearheaded by I Media Corp Ltd (IMCL), the movement will campaign for voting the Taj Mahal, Agra, to the New Seven Wonders of the World. IMCL is the sole official voting facilitator in India for the New Seven Wonders List that will be announced on 7 July 2007.

The Taj Mahal is among the 21 finalists and voting is on in full swing across the world for six of the seven wonder places. Being the only surviving Ancient Seven Wonders, the Pyramids of Giza, are already part of the List.

“A R Rahman was our first choice to compose the anthem. While there is no doubt that the Taj holds a special place in every Indian’s heart, we were shocked to find that voting from our country was abysmally low. It was then that as an integrated interactive solutions firm, IMCL decided to spearhead this movement and resolve to get Taj to the New Seven Wonders List”, said Bharat Kapadia, chairman of ‘India Unites for the Taj’.

“I was in London when IMCL contacted me, and I was very excited about composing the anthem. It was very short notice, but my crew and I grabbed the idea and made special time for working on the anthem. I am sure Indians all over the world will feel motivated and vote for the Taj,” says Rahman.
