MUMBAI: Veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta Kaur, favoured lead pair in the 1980s, will be seen together in a film, produced by Naveen Tak, after a gap of 16 years.
Rajasthan distributor turned producer Naveen Tak, who is also the nephew of filmmaker Saawan Kumar Tak, last produced Souten – The Other Woman.
Says Tak, "Yes, Mithun-da and Ranjeeta are paired together in my forthcoming film. It is a romantic love story. It will be directed by Ashu Y Trikha (who has earlier directed Deewanapan, Sheesha and Alag). We have already started with the song recordings. Music director duo Sajid-Wajid has already recorded five songs in the voices of Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shafaqat Ali Khan, Wajid himself and the famous qawwals Shabri Brothers. We will record one more song in a few days. We will commence the shooting from 15 June 2007 at Delhi and Dalhousie and complete the film in August this year. Dalip Tahil, Supriya Karnik and Sharat Saxena also feature in the film."
Starting off with Suraksha in 1979, Mithun and Ranjeeta worked in Deepak Bahry’s Tarana, Woh Jo Hasina and Hum Se Badkar Kaun, Shakti Samanta’s Khwaab, Swaroop Kumar’s Unees Bees, Bhisham Kohli’s Kismat, Dulal Guha’s Dhuaan, B Subhash’s Taqdeer Ka Badshah, Ambrish Sangal’s Aadat Se Majboor, Raj N Sippy’s Baazi, K Bapaiah’s Ghar Ek Mandir and other films. Their last film together was Kawal Sharma’s Gunahon Ka Devta in 1990.
Mithun last appeared in Mani Ratnam’s Guru, while Ranjeeta was seen in Harry W Fernandes’s Anjaane- The Unknown. The former did well while the later failed at the box-office.
