Saregama pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi


MUMBAI: Music company Saregama India has released its new album – ‘Remembering Mahatma Gandhi’ by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan.


 


The album was launched by Dr. Karan Singh, MP and President ICCR at Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi.


 


The launch was followed by performances by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan. This is the first time that Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has come together with his sons in an album of this nature. The album features interpretations of songs such as Vaishnav jan to, Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Vande Maataram and many more.


 


Speaking at the launch of the album, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan said, “It is an honour to be associated with the symbol of peace and compassion – Mahatma Gandhi. This album is my tribute to one of the greatest men of our country on the occasion of Non Violence Day .”


 


Saregama India general manager Mukul Kansal added, “Remembering Mahatma Gandhi is a delightful rendering of Bapu’s favourite bhajans and of songs associated with our national identity. We believe this music will resonate with every Indian – young or old. It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction for us to join hands with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for this tribute to the Father of the Nation.”
