Music Today cuts album with Pankaj Udhas

MUMBAI: Music Today has released its latest album, Yaara with ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas who has rendered the compositions of legendary sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan for the first time ever. The album is an amalgam of contemporary love songs.

The music video of the Yaara has been shot on the title track which captures the mood of a longing lover seeking his beloved. Set in the mid 1950s the video brings alive the life of that era and the love that brings two souls together and the pain of separation.

The poetry for the album has been penned by Sufi scholar Shri Madan Gopal Singh and musically arranged by Hitesh Sonik of ‘Omkara’ fame.

The second track in the album ‘Bolo Ji Bolo’ is a song that evokes the emotion of early love, with lovers teasing each other. The next track ‘Jagi Jagi Raaton Mein’ is characterised by the combination of guitar and other soft instruments.

Other tracks include ‘Hole Hole’ which is a soft love ballad and ‘Chalte Chalte’ – a song that captures the mood of romance.  The track ‘Woh Baat’ is a soulful song set to a haunting tune and ‘Chhaliya’ is composed with a qawwali feel and folksy emotion.
