Universal Music signs Aditya Narayan; to launch debut album

MUMBAI: Universal Music has signed Udit Narayan’s son Aditya Narayan as its exclusive artiste to launch his debut album. Aditya, who will also be acting in films, has been a trained singer since childhood.

Aditya will also compose his own album. At present he hosts SaReGaMaPa on Zee. "My first self titled album was released by Universal some 12 years back when I was nine years old. For me singing is a passion and I wanted to work with a label, which identified with my perspective and aspirations. After meeting them a few times, I thought Universal was just the right label for me," he says.

Aditya started his musical career at the age of five. He recently completed a diploma in English Contemporary Music from London and earlier learnt Indian classical music from Pandit Satyanarayan Mishra. He also trained under Kalyanji Anandji.

He made his debut in playback singing with Asha Bhosle in 1995 in the blockbuster movie Rangeela, which initially brought him to fame with the Indian audience. He later went on to act in films like Pardes and Jab Pyar Kissi Se Hota Hai as a child artist.

Universal vice president content and A&R Rajeeta Hemwani says, "Universal has an amazing track record of launching some of the biggest acts the industry has seen. With our recent signings of Mohit Chauhan and Aditya Narayan, we want to reinforce that we are here to nurture and support promising talent across genres in addition to working with some of the biggest names in the industry. Aditya represents today’s youth and his album is going to be all about what people of his age group identify the most with. Energetic, path breaking & youthful. We are working on some interesting concepts for it and have great plans for Aditya."
