MUMBAI: The Uttar Pradesh government is pressing for a nationwide ban on Yash Raj Films’ latest release – Aaja Nachle, which also happens to be the comeback film of actress Madhuri Dixit.
The film was banned on account of the lyrics of the lead song – ‘Aaja Nachle,’ which apparently were derogatory to Dalits. The line goes thus – “Mohhale main kaisi mara maar hai, Bole Mochi bhi khud ko sonar hai.”
UP chief minister Mayawati has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that the film be banned all over the country. In UP, the screening of the film was stopped after Mayawati raised the issue.
As per reports, Aaja Nachle director Anil Mehta has agreed to remove the said lyrics from the song.
