Bollywood always succeeds in satisfying moviegoers’ obsession with beautiful cities in India, Varanasi being one of them. Shot in the majestic parts of Varanasi, Chandra Prakash Dwivedi’s upcoming film Mohalla Assi will not only show us the beautiful ghats, culture and firangs but also unfold the dark secrets about the city.
In the recently leaked trailer of the film, the glimpses of the city’s ugly side and secrets can’t be missed. Bollywood satirical drama film will show us Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar in never-seen-before character.
Apart from the dramatic introduction, loud dialogues caught our major attention. Yes, we see Sunny and Sakshi cussing like a pro without even batting an eye. The cussing surely is shocking but seems quit relevant if taken into consideration the motives of the film, which is to bring forth the dirty secrets of Varanasi.
Every character in the film seems very real and unapologetic for being bright and on the edge. With this dialogue, “Bina gaali ke yahan pyaar aur aashirwad ka len-den hota hai kya?”it became quite inevitable that this indeed was just a glimpse of what’s in store for the audiences.

Sunny Deol, who plays the role of a middle class Sanskrit teacher and a Pundit who holds a firm believe in religion, starts and ends his day with a cuss word. However, we liked the aura that the film’s trailer brings forth. Right from the beginning, till the every end, Moshalla Assi’s message is loud and clear.
Yes, film will tell us the hidden twisted and dark secrets of Assi Ghat, a famous ghat in Varanasi, Banaras and what lies behind the hidden mask of fake gurus and expose how their agenda of luring foreigners plays out.
In all this commercialization of the holy city, we see Sunny Deol standing firmly on his beliefs and ideologies with his powerful dialogue,“Hum ghaat ko picnic spot aur Ganga ko swimming pool nahi hone denge.”
With a touch of cuss words, fake babas, spirituality and firangs, the package Mohalla Assi by director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi looks quite promising. Apart from Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar, the film also stars Ravi Krishan, Saurabh Shukla, Mukesh Tiwari and Rajendra Gupta. Mohalla Assi will hit the theatres by the end of 2015.
