Bollywood has taken a liking to the Robin Hood character. ‘Dabangg’ brought the character into fashion and it has continued since. Recently, the trailer for Akshay Kumar’s ‘Boss’ too showed that India has not got enough of this character. And now with ‘Bullett Raja’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ director Tigmanshu Dhulia too gets in on the action.
Saif Ali Khan, who plays Raja Mishra aka Bullett Raja, gets an extended introduction in the trailer for ‘Bullett Raja’. His words and his gunshots are what he has to introduce himself, and what a first impression he makes! His best friend in this film is Jimmy Shergill, a regular now in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s films.
His romantic interest in the film this time around is Sonakshi Sinha. This is a role tailor-made for Sonakshi Sinha, who has played the gaon ki chhori before, but going under the impression that the women in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s films always have a greater purpose (even handling guns), we’re hoping Sonakshi, too, has a good role in ‘Bullett Raja’.
Beside these lead actors, we also see Gulshan Grover, Ravi Kishan and ‘Commando’ star Vidyut Jamwal, with the latter getting to perform stunts, for which he became famous. Also, making an appearance on the screen after a long time is Chunky Pandey.
The movie is set in West Bengal, as was made very apparent by things such as the Howrah Bridge and Sonakshi Sinha practising for the Puja.
The trailer has it all: item number, guns, girls, stunts, one-liners, hummable music (Sajid-Wajid team up with Tigmanshu Dhulia for the first time) and a Robin Hood figure in Bullett Raja’s character. But the humour, especially in the one scene where, Jimmy Shergill and Saif Ali Khan have to shoot (presumably) a minister is really funny because of the way it’s acted out. Very Tigmanshu.
Let’s hope the film lands a good punch when it releases on 29 November, 2013.
