John Abraham plays Manya Surve in 'Shootout At Wadala'

MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures released the trailer of ‘Shootout at Wadala’ which is touted to be a prequel to the 2007 hit film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the story revolves around the life of the real-life famous gangster Manya Surve.

Starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Manoj Bajpai, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut, the film is based on the first-ever registered encounter by the Mumbai police, where Manya Surve was shot dead, near Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala, Mumbai on 11 January 1982.

Fans of John Abraham can rejoice: The uber dashing actor has further pumped up his physique (if that were possible!) to a whole new level and polished up his acting skills. John enters a different league altogether as he transforms himself to fit into the shoes of the furious Manya Surve.

The dialogues in the promo grasp you, and so does their delivery from the stellar cast.

The Story?
Sonu Sood said to represent Dawood Ibrahim and Manoj Bajpai reportedly playing his brother Sabir Ibrahim, are challenged by Mumbai’s first Hindu gang led by Manya Surve. Isaque Bagwan played by Anil Kapoor, shakes up the underworld, after Mumbai witnesses its first ever encounter.

Based on S. Hussain Zaidi’s novel ‘Dongri to Dubai’, from the director of ‘Kaante’ and the producer of ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’, ‘Shootout in Wadala’ is definitely one of the must-watch’s of 2013.

The movie will hit the screens on Maharashtra Day, May 1, 2013.
