MUMBAI: UTV had a grand filmi premiere of their film ‘Kai Po Che!’, which is directed by Abhishek Kapoor of ‘Rock On!!’ fame and which stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav in pivotal roles.
A smattering of Bollywood celebrities were seen walking down the red carpet, dressed in their casual Sunday best, for the grand premiere. The who’s who of B’town made it a point to attend the premiere of the film, which has already created waves within the industry and has been very well appreciated.
Spotted at the ‘Kai Po Che!’ premiere were ‘Race 2’ director-duo Abbas Mustan in their trademark white, handsome hunk Hrithik Roshan (in a sharp black tux, riding high after his high-octane dance performance at Filmfare awards, which had the entire country glued to their TV sets last Sunday), Sushma Reddy, and TV star Neena Gupta with her designer- daughter Masaba. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar chose to go casual in a black shirt with khaki pants, while TV anchor Mandira Bedi wowed the spectators with her stylish nude pink jumpsuit.
Critically acclaimed debutante Huma Qureshi (of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ fame) was seen chatting with Farah Khan on the red carpet, while Ranveer Singh looked on. Yesteryear star Jeetendra was seen having a good time at the premiere, along with the very dapper Anil Kapoor and Arbaaz Khan. Karan Johar made a late entry and was seen posing with Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Chitrangada Singh (in a black sleeveless jumpsuit) and Ayan Mukherjee were also seen rocking the red carpet.
The leading lady of ‘Kai Po Che!’ Amrita Puri was seen in a short boat-neck dress with red detailing, and was seen sharing some laughs with director Abhishek Kapoor and co-star Amit Sadh (both in classic tones of black). Irrfan Khan was seen praising Abhishek’s new film, while newcomer Yami Gautam looked pleased as a peach on the red carpet in a peach coloured blazer and black pants. Sushant’s TV-actress girlfriend Ankita Lokhande donned a stunning black gown, while Arunoday Singh was also seen in basic black.
Shazahn Padamsee, Neha Dhupia, Arshad Warsi, Maria Goretti, and Chunkey Pandey were also seen having a gala time at the premiere. With so many Bollywood celebrities giving ‘Kai Po Che!’ a thumbs up, it now remains to be seen how theatre-going audiences will take to the film once it releases this Friday, 22 February.
