‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ starring Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor has shattered all the records at box office by becoming highest grossing movie in its first day. Released on the occasion of Diwali, the movie saw a massive turn out at the theatres. Last year on Diwali, Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Happy New Year’ released which was also the highest grossing film on its opening day. When it comes to these two superstars and their movies, the comparisons happen eventually.
During a press junket for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, Salman Khan opened up about the breaking the record of Shah Rukh Khan’s massive hit of last year, ‘Happy New Year’. He said “Breaking your record is better than breaking someone else’s record”. Adding to this, he said “It is a good feeling. It shows that with movies and fans, you are also growing”. During media interaction Salman also said that even his record will be broken some day. He said “I hope some day someone will break my record. I hope not is selfish and I hope is better for the industry. I would rather hope than hope not. Also, i hope that I come in and break some else’s record”.
In this first weekend itself, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has joined the 100 crore club. After joining the 100 crore club so easily after its first weekend run, we now wait to see whether ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ manages to touch the 200 crore mark after its weekday run at the box office. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, it is a family entertainer film starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Swara Bhaskar and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.
