MUMBAI: Bollywood’s ‘Heroine’ Kareena Kapoor Khan believes that she has a responsibility to be constantly glammed up! At the launch of the book ‘The Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva’ co- written bythe actress herself and Rochelle Pinto; published by Shobhaa De Books and Penguin India, Kareena revealed that she feels she’s an icon for the younger generation.
“Youngsters look upto me.” explained the actress. “It is quite a responsibility to always be stylish,” added Kareena. Talking about her book, Kareena said that every chapter has something for everyone, “There is something for people from 14 to 35 years or 40, I have to say 40 because my husband (Saif Ali Khan) is 40 plus!”
Kareena though admits that she didn’t think she would be writing a book so soon in her life. “When (Shobhaa) De called me for this book, I thought I still have to live my life, might write a book when I’m 60. What if something more scandalous… more interesting happens 20 years later?”
So what finally did it for the actress, known to call a spade exactly that. “She said it was going to be a style diary. Then I realized…. Okay, I’m stylish and I should take the compliment. I took on the mantle and the responsibility of what it is like to be a style diva. Become that and feel that!” reasoned Kareena adding, “There are youngsters out there who look up to me!”
The new begum shares that 2012 was a big year for her. With Valentine’s Day looming closer, we couldn’t resist to ask, what her plans with hubby Saif Ali Khan are.
“This year Saif will have to gift me something. I think I have given him the biggest gift in October last year. Maine apne aapko begum bana liya hai (I’ve transformed into a princess). He should come and give me a gift,” said Kareena.
But as for spending 14th February with the man in question? “I will be shooting in Bhopal on the Valentine’s Day. This year my Valentine’s Day will be with Amitji, Ajay Devgn and Prakash Jha. So it’s not that bad,” said the actress talking about her next – ‘Satyagrah’ – her first project after marriage.
