HBO to commence Deadwood final season

MUMBAI: The third season of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO original series Deadwood will begin its run in India on 4 June 2007.

Created and executive produced by David Milch (NYPD Blue), the Emmy and Golden Globe winning western drama series will kick off its third season on June 4 at 11 pm and thereafter every Monday after the 9 pm movie.

Deadwood won five out of 11 Emmy nominations for its second season: Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (James Glennon), Outstanding Costumes for a Series (Janie Bryant), Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series (Maria Caso), Outstanding Non-Prosthetic Makeup for a Series (John Rizzo) and Outstanding Hairstyling for a Series (Carol Pershing). The HBO Original Series was also nominated for 11 Emmys for its first season and won two (Directing for a Drama Series – Walter Hill, and Sound Editing for a Series).

The series also boasts of a Golden Globe Award, won by Ian McShane who plays Al Swearengen, the notoriously violent town boss of Deadwood and one of television’s most scene-stealing villains.

In the final season, the lawless era in Deadwood will come to an end. As the town’s first elections approach, the strategic alliances that protect hard-earned interests are becoming more critical than ever before. Facing down an unexpected threat from a powerful man aiming to reshape the town in his image, the founders must put up their strongest front yet if they expect to survive, says a release.
