Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge To Continue Screening At Maratha Mandir

DdljIt’s not a goodbye for Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge at Maratha Mandir yet. The management of Maratha Mandir have decided to continue screening DDLJ after all. Only recently, the iconic Maratha Mandir decided to drop the curtains on DDLJ, which ran for more than 1000 weeks in the theatre.

But as soon as the news about the film being pulled out of Maratha Mandir came out, all the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge fans were disheartened. Maratha Mandir received a lot of letters from the fans, requesting them to continue showing the film. Finally, Yash Raj Films and Maratha Mandir management together decided to continue showing DDLJ in the theatre.

Yash Raj Films announced the good news in a statement, “The sudden announcement of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge being pulled out from Maratha Mandir at the end of 1009 unprecedented weeks resulted in a spontaneous and an overwhelming outcry from the cinema going audience, as well as dedicated fans of the movie, expressing their shock and disappointment.

It further said, “Ever since this news went out, the Maratha Mandir management was flooded with requests to reinstate the movie based on which they decided to immediately reconsider their decision. Given this, it has been mutually decided to continue the screening in the same 11:30 AM morning show – without breaking the uninterrupted run of the movie!”

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has beaten the record previously held by 1975 blockbuster Sholay as the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema.
