A bomb explosion took place inside one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist destinations on Monday. Bollywood actress Genelia D’Souza, who is in Bangkok with her husband Riteish Deshmukh shooting for an advertisement, took to Twitter to express her condolence on the disaster that took place.
Genelia, who was right across the street from the place where the explosion took place, reassured her fans that she and her husband Riteish Deshmukh are fine. “Good morning..Thank you all for the concern.. Just to inform you we are safe.. #Thankgod4smallmercies,” Genelia D’Souza tweeted. Later the actress expressed her grief by saying, “Bomb set off just opp the mall we are currently in -can hear the sirens blazing all over- we are safe but feel terrible for the lives lost.”
In this horrific event, at least 19 people were killed, while more than 120 people got injured. The blast set off at Erawan Shrine, which happens to be a major tourist attraction. The place was extremely crowded at that time. The explosion took place right outside a Hindu temple, which is located on a main road through Bangkok’s commercial hub. The temple, which is dedicated to Lord Brahma, is surrounded by three major shopping malls.
Genelia D’Souza’s husband and Bollywoood actor Riteish Deshmukh shared a footage with people. In the video, we see the street deserted with no sign of human being and only packed with police vehicles. We also see an ambulance running down the street.
Riteish also expressed his condolence by tweeting, “My thoughts go out to the people affected by last night’s cowardly attack. Taking innocent lives is no way to protest or make a point.”
Apart from Riteish and Genelia, Varun Dhawan also took to Twitter to express how bad he feels after hearing the terrible news. He tweeted, “Terrible news about the blast in #bankok my heart goes out to the victims.praying that God gives strength to the loved one of the victims.”
