Hanapole appointed CIO for Star

MUMBAI: Star has appointed Edward Hanapole as its chief information officer. In this newly created post, Hanapole is responsible for developing the company’s digital technology and new media capabilities across the region. He reports to Star, chief operating officer, Laureen Ong who is based in Hong Kong.


 
Ong said, “Edward joined us from the News Corporation Global Technology Group. He is an experienced digital media executive with strong vision and a passion for innovation. His credentials and experiences will be of great value to Star as the company seeks to expand its digital services in the region.”


 


Before joining Star, Hanapole was Vice President, Global Technology for News Corporation, responsible for leading efforts to increase content and technology sharing among News Corporation’s internet properties. Prior to this, Edward worked for IBM Global Business Services as lead partner of their Digital Media Practice and Global Executive for IBM’s Global Digital Media group. Before that, he was Chief Information Officer of New York Times Digital, a division of The New York Times Company.
