Will Ferrell & his wife to be honored in LA

MUMBAI: The comedian-actor Will Ferrell and his Swedish wife, Viveca Paulin-Ferrell, are deeply involved in the Swedish School of Los Angeles and in recognition and appreciation of their efforts, they have been bestowed “The 2007 Viking Prize.”

Created to honor significant contributors to the Swedish School of Los Angeles, the Ferrells will be present to accept the award from Margareta Saperston, headmaster of the school, at a ceremony on 19 May.

The Swedish School of Los Angeles was founded in 1977 with the objective of providing children of Swedish heritage with a learning environment to develop their language and traditions.

This year Swedish singing sensation Leana – whose hit, Embrace Me, is No. 7 on Billboard’s dance chart — will open her home for the event.

The highlight of the evening is the awards ceremony honoring the Ferrells. In addition to the honor, the prize is symbolized by a beautiful marble sculpture created by Swedish artist Jeanette Sedacca.

Ferrell’s latest film Blades of Glory will open in Sweden on 11 May.
