Sarah Silverman to Host MTV Movie Awards

MUMBAI: Sarah Silverman will take the hosting reins for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. Star of both big screen and small, Silverman will lend her unique brand of provocative comedy to this year’s ceremony which will be broadcast live from the Gibson Theater in Universal City, California on 3 June, 2007.

The 2007 MTV Movie Awards will be executive produced by Emmy Award winning producer Mark Burnett. Additionally, as was also announced, MTV and Yahoo! have partnered to launch an interactive website via Yahoo! Movies, which will explore the convergence of entertainment and technology like never before allowing fans to be part of the show. Performers, nominees, and presenters for the “2007 MTV Movie Awards” will be announced at a later date.

“The other day I sat down too hard and sprained my labia majora. I’m okay, but I took it as a sign from God to host the MTV Movie Awards,” said Silverman.

“Sarah’s irreverent, no holds barred sarcasm and humor have made her one of the hottest up and coming comedians in the industry. Sarah is just the person to orchestrate the madness and keep everyone guessing about who’ll be her next target,” said MTV president Christina Norman.

The MTV Movie Awards is just the most recent addition to Silverman’s growing list of credits. From stand-up comedy to film and television, Silverman has seen her share of success and 2007 has certainly been the year of proof.
