FAIF challenges Hollywood Motion Picture Studio

Hollywood, CA: On October 5, the 2nd Annual FAIF International Film Festival will open with the highly anticipated Filmmaker’s Reception featuring live entertainment by Justin Black and the Light, a truly remarkable rising band, in the Grand Ballroom of the Universal City Hilton Hotel & Towers.

The 2006 FAIF International Film Festival (FAIF) is a 10-day multi venue event which takes place October 5th through the 14th with screenings at the world famous Mann’s Chinese 6 theaters October 6th-12th and ending with the spectacular FAIF Awards Show Saturday October 14th in the Grand Ballroom of the Universal City Hilton Hotel & Towers.

With a record-breaking number of film submissions participating in this year’s festival it has far surpassed expectations. The festival will screen 150 local, national and International films in almost every genre. In just two short years filmmakers from around the world have realised the value and tremendous opportunities the FAIF festival offers through networking and attending industry representatives.

However this year has been exceptionally hard on the arts funding and even harder for new or start up film arts programs. In a city which was built by the entertainment industry there is very little assistance or support programs, grants or loans available with most programs requiring three years of operations or inside contacts. The FAIF has come to be known in only a year, as the most filmmaker friendly independent film festival on the annual circuit. As such we are challenging the major motion picture studios and industry players to contribute capital or in-kind to the festival and show their support for the independent filmmaker community.

The festival needs to raise $75,000 within the next four weeks to continue our programs and support of the independent film arts. “It a simple matter of offering their contributions and support to the festival”, “consumers remember companies who give to the community and that makes for great PR” said Donald Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of the FAIF. “We’ve had small or family companies giving in-kind support or financial contributions, yet very little offered from the corporate giants, what’s wrong with this picture?” said Matt Kautsky, Chief Operations Officer of the FAIF.

Willing or interested studios and individuals may contact the festival directly at 323-410-0464 to make arrangements and will receive official recognition in the festival program and throughout the festival, plus the gratitude of the over 200 attending filmmakers and independent film community. The festival also has several sponsorship programmes available as well.

The FAIF International Film Festival is an annual event of the non-profit FAIF (Foundation for the Advancement of Independent Films) dedicated to promoting and supporting the art of the motion picture through the presentation of the annual ten day multi-venue festival in which independent films submitted by filmmakers throughout the world are publicly exhibited at the Mann Chinese 6 Theaters, in Hollywood, California. A portion of the revenues generated by the festival are dedicated to the FAIF at risk youth “Believe in Yourself” program for the Los Angeles Metro/SoCal area.
