Eros acquires Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya rights

MUMBAI: The India video, satellite and overseas rights of Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya (which sounds like a film inspired by the jingle of a popular ad for Cadbury’s chocolates) have been acquired by Eros Multimedia, according to sources.

Negotiations for the audio and other rights of the film are still on, say sources. aipur-based builder Amit Srivastava has produced the film under the banner of Real Square Productions Pvt. Ltd.

Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya has been written and directed by S Soni and features Krishna Abhishek (nephew of actor turned MP Govinda), Kashmera Shah, Sikander Kharbanda, Alok Nath, Narendra Bedi and Jackie Shroff. Ravi Pawar has provided the lyrics and music for the film.

Says Srivastava, “If things move according to our plans, the film should hit screens in February 2007.”

Adds Soni, “Aur Pappu Pass Ho Gaya is a fun film. Many may relate the characters of the film with real life ones. Krishna Abhishek plays the title role of Pappu in this socio-comic thriller. Kashmera Shah plays his arrogant love-interest. Jackie Shroff plays a kind-hearted don, who also happens to be Kashmera’s brother.”

He clarifies, “The title has nothing to do with any jingle, it’s just about the hero who fails umpteen times to win his love or to do something for his family.”

The entire film has been shot in Rajasthan in a span of 40 days. “We had the privilege of shooting in Kedri, one of the virgin locations in the state, 200 km away Jaipur,” adds Soni.

Soni, who has been a scriptwriter before he turned film director with Dabdaba in 2001, claims to be the first filmmaker to have made a film in Sanskrit, Mudra Rakshasam in 2006.
