Maharashtra Cong VP turns producer with film

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Congress party vice president Dr Balwant Shastri has produced a Bhojpuri film titled Pritiya Tohar.

The film is written and directed by Manoj Sharma and will be released on 9 February 2007.


Says Shastri, “Pritiya Tohar is a commercial Bhojpuri film, starring Krishna Abhishek (actor turned MP  Govinda’s nephew), Luvy Rohatgi, Priya Subba, Upasna Singh, Shivam Tiwari, Sreepradha, Rajesh Vivek, Vinod Tripathi and others. Rajan Guruji has composed the music, and the lyrics have been penned by Sudhakar Sharma. Balaji Exhibitors has acquired the Bombay rights, while Abhay Sinha of Yashi films has acquired the film for the Bihar territory. The music rights have been sold to T-Series.”


Sharma has earlier directed a Hindi film, Sparsh – The Touch, and Venus’ Bhojpuri film, Maai Ka Bitwa. He has also directed more than 50 music videos for Venus, including Altaf Raja’s Tum To Tehre Pardesi.
