Mumbai: National Geographic Channel (NGC) has expanded its audience in India by launching in Telugu.

The announcement was made at the press conference organized today at Hotel Taj Krishna where Tollywood superstar Nag Chaitanya unveiled the channel in the native language of Andhra Pradesh.

National Geographic Channel, which is currently available in Hindi and English will now also be available in Telugu showcasing the same award winning programs like ‘Jailed Abroad’ & ‘Air Crash Investigations’, to NGC specials like ‘Strange Days on Planet Earth’. The best of NGC specials, events and signature series will now also be available throughout the week, 24×7 in Telugu.

National Geographic Network & FOX International Channels managing director Keerthan Adyanthaya said, “We are extremely excited to reach out to a wider Indian audience, the channel will give our viewers a flavor of compelling stories in their native language, aided by stunning visuals and credibility that people have come to expect from the National Geographic Channel. It reinforces our commitment to offer our viewers a new way to look at the world – inviting them to Live Curious: learn and explore constantly about science, technology, history, culture, nature and wildlife.”

Naga Chaitanya added, “It’s a great initiative to launch the channel in Telugu and reach out to the Telugu speaking audience. I have always been impressed by the rich content of NGC. The channel always has something interesting and informative to offer to its viewers. Right from science and technology to conservation and exploration, Nat Geo mesmerizes me on all fronts.”
