Admaker’s debut film to release in August

MUMBAI: Bombay Duck Films Pvt Ltd’s Detective Nani is being readied for an August 2007 release all over.


Jointly produced by Jolly Mukherjee and Urmila Chatterjee, the film has been directed by debutante Romilla Mukherjee, an ad filmmaker.


Says Mukherjee, “It is a family film and has its share of murder-mystery too with lots of fun all through its duration of two hours and 15 minutes. It follows the daring exploits of ‘Naani’, who turns detective, to explore the case of a missing young girl. When the cops turn down her request, the 75-year old Nani uses her homespun wisdom to solve the mystery. Her eccentric methods leads to humorous incidents. There are youngsters and a dog to help her in her endeavour.”


“We are releasing the film by the end of July or in the first week of August. We will be distributing the film across the country. We are targeting mostly at the multiplex cinemas and will have around 60 prints in its first week of release. We have already inked the Satellite Rights deal with Star TV. Talks are on for music and overseas rights.”


The film stars Ava Mukherjee, Shweta Gulati, Amit Verma, Amrita Saluja and Ankur Nayyar. Jolly Mukherjee and Romilla Mukherjee have provided the music compositions for the film. The five songs for the album have been rendered by Kunal Ganjawala, Shahzeen, Shreya Ghoshal, Shantanu Mukherjee, Shailendra Barve and Jolly.
