Mumbai: Bollywood braveheart Akshay Kumar will kick into action for 2008 with his first blockbuster release of the year. The wait will be well worth the while because Kumar returns as action hero with Tashan that releases in cinemas across the UK and internationally on 25 April.
After riding on a thundering wave of Box Office success throughout 2007, Kumar now takes control of the gearstick as the driving force of Bollywood’s most ambitious road trip movie to date.
Playing desi wannabe gangster Bachchan Pandey in his own ‘tashan’ (style), Kumar takes a diesel-fuelled road trip across India taking in the vast expanse of Rajasthan, screeching to a halt at Haridwar, among other pit stops along the way.
Tashan marks a welcomed return to the action flick genre that first clinched Kumar’s success in the Bollywood film industry, incorporating state-of-the-art special effects and captivating action sequences which have been performed by Kumar himself.
Kumar says, "I’m really excited about this film. It celebrates a return to the action genre for me and has given me the opportunity to showcase my physical and technical skills which, for me, are my art. Tashan marks a wholly new concept in Bollywood action filmmaking which will certainly take the audiences by surprise, if not shock, as they will have seen nothing like this before. This is a film that will have universal appeal, not only for action film enthusiasts, but for anyone who appreciates top quality cinema with a real edge."
