Big Pictures CMO Saurabh Varma quits; Girish Shah takes over

MUMBAI: Reliance BIG Pictures chief marketing officer Saurabh Varma has resigned from the company.

Prior to joining Reliance BIG Pictures in November 2007, Varma was with multiplex chain Inox Leisure as vice president – programming and distribution. At the time of filing this report, Varma was not available for comment.

Sources inform Businessofcinema.com that the marketing division of BIG Pictures will temporarily be headed by Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) head of branding Girish Shah. Shah has brought in a new team of six professionals to handle the marketing function at BIG Pictures.

Shah and his team will now be looking into the marketing of BIG Pictures’ movies in the pipeline namely Do Knot Disturb, 3 Idiots and Kites along with its regional film releases like Shob Choritro Kalponik etc.

Prior to ADAG, Shah was general manager marketing at Johnson & Johnson. He also had a stint with Vijay Mallya’s UB Group/Kingfisher Airlines as GM marketing.
