Bollywood meets Wales at Ambassador bash

MUMBAI: Reena and Sandeep Marwah hosted cocktails and dinner in honour of the Deputy First Minister of Wales, Ieuan Wyn Jones, at JW Marriott on Friday night.

There were two reasons for the grand party—Marwah’s appointment as Ambassador of Wales in India and a welcome to the presence of Bollywood in Wales.

The entire film industry turned up to be a part of the celebrations and to welcome International Business Wales director Ian Williams, along with a team of officials and business groups from Wales.

Veteran Filmmaker Surinder Kapoor had come with his wife. Sons Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor were all present with their respective wives, Sridevi, Sunita Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor.

Others spotted were Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Satish Kaushik, Samarjit Das Gupta, Bijon Das Gupta, Ashok Thakeria, Indra Kumar, Ramesh Turani of Tips, WICA President Adeeb Tandon, music baron Kishan and Bhushan Kumar of T- Series, Pankaj Prashar, Director Gurbir Grewal, Chunkey Pandey, Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor and Ashok Tyagi.

The announcement of Marwah’s appointment as Ambassador of Wales in India made Bollywood proud. This is historical because this is the first time a non-Welsh person has been nominated to such a high platform. Marwah has already planned a number of student, faculty and knowledge exchange programmes with Wales.
