MUMBAI: As reported by businessofcinema.com, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’ directed by Prabhu Deva starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, took a good first day with approximately Rs 152.5 million (Rs 15.25 crore) net, making it the highest opening for Akshay Kumar.
The weekend saw an even better response for the film, with collections steady on Saturday and jumping on Sunday. The three day total figures are in the range of Rs 485 million (Rs 48.5 crore) net, making ‘Rowdy Rathore’ the biggest opening weekend of the year.
The film performed the best in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar region. With such a ample start, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ is likely to have a great first week as well.
