Mumbai: Metrro Movies’ maiden film Coffee Corner… Let’s Talk About Love is based on the life of Miss India 1997 Nafisa Joseph who committed suicide on 29 July 2004. One year later Nafisa’s friend Kuljeet Randhawa, model and co-star in C.A.T.S serial also committed suicide due to failed relationship.
A 15-days shooting spell for the film has been concluded recently in Mumbai. A song under the supervision of Nimish Bhatt has also been picturised in this stint. Produced by Ramesh N Grover, the film is being written and directed by debutante Bharat Ratan. He had assisted Ravi Chopra during the making of Baghban. Shriram has provided the musical scores.
Newcomers Nirvasha Jithoo (Sonali in the film) plays the model while Faiz Janjua (Sumeet) features as an ace fashion photographer. Nazmeen Madan (Sakhi) plays the role of Sonali’s friend.Others in the cast include Prashant Narayanan, Deepshikha, Saurabh Shukla, Amardeep Jha and Anupam Kher.
The first time producer Grover is excited about his debut film. “I’m making a realistic film. Broken relationships and suicide tendency is seen a lot among the younger generation. It is a small film and is budgeted around Rs 1.7 million (Rs 1.7 crore),” he says.
He further adds, “My film is a flashback and is narrated by a writer to a director sitting in a coffee shop. Sonali is an aspiring model from London. She migrates to India and stays with her friend Sakhi in Mumbai. Sumeet clicks her portfolio and Sonali soon becomes the most sought after model. Sonali is a stickler and stays away from gossipmongers. How she gets connected to Sumeet in relationship and why she commits suicide, is what the film all about.”
