MUMBAI: Lawrence D’Souza, director of the 1991 hit film Saajan, starring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan, is poised to return to filmmaking.
After the debacle of his last venture, Indian Babu, in 2003, D’Souza will now resurface as a producer-director, with a new production house, Mother Mary Creations, which he has floated in partnership with S Kumar and Jagjeet Kaur.
The cinematographer turned director confirms the development, saying, “Along with my y partners, we will begin with a music album, followed by feature films in various languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Marathi.”
D’Souza’s production house, located in Andheri in suburban Mumbai, was inaugurated by filmmaker Ravi Chopra. D’Souza last produced a film in 1993, Sangram, which starred Ajay Devgan, Karisma Kapoor, Ayesha Jhulka, Amrish Puri and Danny Denzongpa.
