MUMBAI: Fox Star Studios India, the joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Star India, will be releasing the X Files movie called The X Files: I Want to Believe in India on 26 September.
Fox Star Studios will release The X Files: I Want to Believe in a phased manner with 30 prints. As of now, the movie will only be released in English.
The film reunites series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the lead roles of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully under the direction of series creator Chris Carter, who co-wrote the screenplay with Frank Spotnitz. The movie also stars Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, Alvin Joiner, Mitch Pileggi and Callum Keith Rennie.
The movie has been filmed in Vancouver and Pemberton in British Columbia, Canada. All shooting and production work pertaining to the film was done amidst tight secrecy to avoid speculation by media and fans about the plot line. However, when the title of the film was announced, Carter said, "It pertains to a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science.I Want To Believe really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith."
Carter adds, "Simply put, we want to scare the pants off of everyone in the audience. The film encompasses all the best things people loved about the show. It’s scary, creepy, and has a good mystery. I think the best part of The X-Files was that it could make you afraid of anything. They didn’t tell typical horror stories or adhere to popular genre conventions. And this movie is in that tradition of showing things that you would not see in most scary movies."
