Fox’s first Indian production to replace KBC

MUMBAI: Fox Television Studios India will make its foray into Indian TV programming with a primetime show on Star Plus, titled Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni. The show will take over the slot vacated by Kaun Banega Crorepati, which ends its current season soon.

Meri Awaaz… will air from 23 April 2007 and will air Mondays through Thursdays.

Says Fox Television Studios India head Deepak Segal, “Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni is an attempt to offer loyal viewers something different from the regular fare on television. It is an emotional story of relationships, a love saga with a musical background and as the show progresses, one will see situations beautifully presented through songs.”

Meri Awaz… is an emotional and musically moving saga of 19 year old Sudha, a small town girl and an aspiring singer, who wants to make it big in the field of music. Circumstances bring her to Mumbai in search of a job where she meets the man of her dreams, only to realise that the road she chose and the man she gave her heart to, both will have something else in store for her.

The concept is credited to Khalil Hasan and the show will be directed by Sanjay Khanna. It has been scripted by Reshma Khan and Irshad Kamil. The cast includes Shama Deshpande, Saleem Shah and Soumya Tandon. Ashima Bhalla, who has worked in a few feature films, will play the lead character of Sudha on the show. Her love interest, Raj, will be played by Karan Grover.
