Mumbai: In a significant move, Chennai based film production house G. V. Films announced the appointment of Nine Winds Media & Entertainment of Mumbai to represent them in the licensing of their catalogue. The company wants to exploit its enormous catalogue over the different formats like Home Video (DVD & VCD), satellite broadcast, IPTV, theatrical, dubbing etc.
GV Films possesses an extensive catalogue of films and music in more than one language. Their significant Tamil catalogue contains among others, acclaimed Mani Ratnam blockbusters like Kamal Haasan’s Nayakan and Rajnikanth’s Dalapathi. They have an additional catalogue of over 700 films in South Indian languages on offer for internet downloads. GV Films also possesses the copyrights to over 15,000 English language films.
GV Films’ Mahadevan Ganesh says, "These titles were acquired by the company some time ago but we feel the time has come to exploit the catalogue worldwide."
Nine Winds’ Deepak Jaswani adds, "These offers can be exclusive or non exclusive depending on the nature of the business that the buyer is engaged in and their geographical location."
