Hindi films’ release dates finalised as strike gets over

MUMBAI: The two month long standoff between multiplexes and Hindi film producers and distributors was finally called off late last night. Hindi films are slated to release across India from 12 June onwards. Producers are now finalising the release dates of the movies that have been ready for release but were held up due to the strike.

The first movie to hit screens will be Vashu Bhagnani and BIG Pictures’ Kal Kissne Dekha on 12 June. The movie marks the debut of Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai and has been directed by Vivek Sharma.

Mukta Arts’ Paying Guests will release on 19 June, which will be followed by Yash Raj Films’ New York directed by Kabir Khan on 26 June. New York stars John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan Khan.

Sikander produced by Sudhir Mishra and presented by BIG Picture is also slated for release in June. The movie is directed by Piyush Jha. However, the date has not yet been decided.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq directed by Sabbir Khan and starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the lead will release on 3 July. The movie was earlier slated to release on 10 July. Commenting on the development, Eros International COO and commercial director Jyoti Deshpande said, "It’s important that we put up a united front and join hands with other studios and producers to give all our films the kind of release they deserve. Hence, keeping alive the spirit of the association, we have decided to bring ahead the release of Kambakkht Ishq by a week to accommodate other releases in subsequent weeks. Since there is already a nice buzz about Kambakkht Ishq, all the publicity ready to fire and all our distributors on board as well, it was the obvious choice."

Also releasing with Kambakkht Ishq on 3 July will be Moser Baer Entertainment’s Sankat City, which is directed by Pankaj Advani. These two films will be followed by Anjum Rizvi’s Fast Forward and Anil Kapoor’s Shortkut directed by Neeraj Vora on 10 July

Jashn, which stars Adhyayan Suman, Shahana Goswami, Anjana Sukhani and Humayun Sayeed and is directed by Raksha Mistry and Hasnain S. Hyderabadwala will release on 17 July, followed by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision’s Luck and UTV Motion Pictures’ Agyaat directed by Ram Gopal Varma on 24 July.

Eros International will release Imtiaz Ali directed Love Aaj Kal on 31 July. Produced by Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan, the movie stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Shemaroo Entertainment will release its animation film Pangaa Gang in July. The CGI animation movie is directed by Pankaj Sharma and features the voices of Archana Puran Singh, Sudesh Bhosle, Purvi Joshi and Sweeny Khera.

7 August will see the release of two films namely ASA Productions and Enterprises’ Phhir directed by Girish Dhamija and Sahara One Motion Pictures’ and Boney Kapoor’s Wanted directed by Prabhudeva.

One day before the Independence day celebrations on 14 August two films will release – director Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey, which is produced by UTV and Life Partner directed by Rumi Jaffery.

ASA Productions and Enterprises’ Three- Love, Lies and Betrayal directed by Vishal Pandya will release on 3 September. The movie stars Aashish Chowdhary, Akshay Kapoor and Nausheen Ali Sardar.

Producer Viveck Vaswani will release the Shah Rukh Khan, Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen starrer Dhulha Mil Gaya on 18 September.

UTV Motion Pictures’ Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starring in Main Aur Mrs Khanna will hit screens on 25 September.

Do Not Disturb directed by David Dhawan and starring Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Sohail Khan is also slated for release in September. The film is a co-production between Vashu Bhagnani’s Puja Films and BIG Pictures.

Rohit Shetty directed All The Best- Fun Begins is will release during Diwali on 16 October. The movie is produced by Ajay Devgan Films and stars Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Mughda Godse.

Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision’s Blue is also targetting a release around Diwali in October.

Kites is eyeing a release around November – December this year. The movie is produced by Rakesh Roshan’s Filmkraft Productions and stars Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori. It is directed by Anurag Basu.

The release date of Eros International and Boundscript’s Aladin starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Riteish Deshmukh directed by Sujoy Ghosh has not yet been decided upon.
