MUMBAI: The Minister of State of Information & Broadcasting and External Affairs Anand Sharma has congratulated the ‘Slumdog Millionaire and Smile Pinky Team for winning prestigious Oscar Awards.
In his message Sharma stated that this is the finest hour of Indian cinema in the global scenario.
The Slumdog Millionaire took the best picture Academy Award and seven other Oscars. The movie won Oscar for Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography and Best Adapted Screenplay.
The made in India documentary Smile Pinky won an Oscar the Best Short Documentary category at the 81st Academy Awards. Smile Pinky is the story of the child with a lip deformity. The film by Megan Mylan, had been nominated along with four other documentaries.
