IIFA announces technical award winners

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti has picked up seven awards in the technical categories of the IIFA awards to be held in June 2007 in Yorkshire.

The film has picked up awards for best cinematography for Binod Pradhan, best editing for P S Bharathi, best art direction for Samir Chanda, best background score and best song recording for A R Rehman, best sound recording for Nakul Kamte and best sound re-recording for Hitendra Gosh.

Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish bagged two awards, the best action award for Tony Siutung and Shyam Kushal and the best special effects (Visuals) award for EFX studios.

Dhoom:2 also pocketed awards for best costume designing by Anaita Adajania and best make up for G A James for Hrithik Roshan’s distinctive and unusual looks.

Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj’s interpretation of William Shakespeare’s classic, Othello, bagged the award for the song ‘Beedi Jalaile’ in the category of best choreography for Ganesh Acharya.

The trophies will be presented at the eighth IDEA IIFA awards ceremony to be held on 9 June 2007.
